4 Local Brands to Celebrate National Philippine Streetwear Day
by Gretzel Lantican
Today may seem like a normal day to everyone else, but for those who are into fashion, January 15 is celebrated as National Philippine Streetwear Day. Basically, the event promotes wearing local casual wear brands.
In the ‘90s, streetwear fashion was in the forms of tees, baseball caps and hoodies paired with sneakers. Today, the trend has turned into a more laid-back look, drawing style inspirations from sports and Hip-Hop.
Below is a list of promising local brands to give you an idea of the trend:
Easygoing pieces with a combination of understated and rebellious designs
On-the-go silhouettes, mostly in poly cotton and denim fabrics
Updated chic wear with intricate cuts and playful prints
When oversized casual clothing, graphic tees, and sneakers meet, it’s called streetwear fashion. AVA’s local brands, namely Arin, Facile, Nicart, and Rippletwyne, showcase the trend that we currently celebrate on National Philippine Streetwear Day.
